This scene showcased the range of Sridevi in split seconds in the film Sadma; the mirage and illusion of Snehalata versus her reality. What a gifted actress she was - during the production of the film she was all of 19. It's still staggering that she received so little recognition that year in the award circuit and is mostly recognised for her work in hindsight today - but then she had actual competition of notable actresses (unlike sponsored models of today!).
Though regarded by many as her finest performance, Sridevi herself thought the original Moondram Pirai was better and she was going through the motions in repeat as the movie was mostly a frame to frame remake of the original.
