Yash Chopra had mentioned in interviews he wanted to work with Sridevi for long - since the early 1980s when Amitabh Bachchan recommended that he watch Moondram Pirai.
Sridevi has sung for several films - particularly in Tamil films - so it really wasn't her first and only time Sri's sung for a movie.
