Released 30 August 1996, Mr Bechara underwhelmed the at the box-office and was completely written off - despite decent performances by the lead cast (stalwarts all; it would be hard at this stage of their illustrious career to even try and fail at a performance; take a bow Anupam Kher, Nagarjuna, Sridevi and Anil Kapoor!).

For producer Nandu G. Tolani, it wasnt' a complete loss; made at a modest budget of ₹3.75 crore, the film made ₹5.84 crore.

The film itself was a remake and the gentle comedy (without any vulgarity, item songs, innuendo filled dialogues or crude visuals) was, tbh, off the mark and released at a time when Indian cinema was changing and so was audience taste.

Upon rewatch recently, its a feel-good, harmless watch over a cuppa tea.
