After the sudden and unexpected demise of actor/producer/director Vinod Mehra, Mehra's friend Raj Sippy took over the mantle of directing and completing the film. The film opened well, the huge star-cast of Anil Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Sridevi - the biggest superstars of their time - lured people into the theatres but the long film, choppy edit yanked people out. The songs are great fun to watch - R.D.Burman's magic lingers.
