Sridevi understood early on which colours, prints and shades looked better on screen and in film magazine shoots. She's adviced her designers - be it Manish Malhotra or Neeta Lulla - to incorporate certain materials and hues depending on the scene required for a movie.
If you scroll through this blog - especially the Second Take or Series categories - you'll note which shots stand out. There's empirical evidence that women in red stand out, Sri often wore monochrome outfits for songs, she wore subdued colours for scenes that required dramatic moments (so that the audience wasn't distracted by a bold print or a shimmering ensemble) and often repeated certain combinations (such as black and gold, red and white) as it stood out on screen.
American designer Bill Blass said, “Whenever in doubt, wear red.”
Well, Sri often did. And looked stunning in it.
