Sridevi's yellow and white apron print look, she wore for the memorable medley in the movie.
Anil Kapoor's first film as lead was in 1983 with Woh Saat Din (a spectacular Hindi film worth watching with three incredible performances by him, Padmini Kolhapure and Naseerudin Shah) and in 1986, three formidable years into his career, he met the undisputed Queen of Bollywood - who kept a healthy distance from everyone.
Anil Kapoor said he worked hard to become friends with the reticent and reclusive superstar as she was the biggest actress of her time. They went on to do several films together but for a legion and generation of Bollywood fans, Mr India tops the list as a favourite film - even more than Lamhe (we forget often how polarizing Lamhe was during release).
Many wanted a sequel - including the cast and crew - but since the shocking demise of Sridevi, the leading lady, all hopes lay asunder. The movie would be nothing without the original Seema - and the sensation that was Sridevi.
