Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in Abhimanyu (1989)

The film Abhimanyu was launched in 1984 but faced innumerable production delays and casting issues -  the movie finally saw the light of day in 1989. And bombed at the box-office. The critics hated it and so did the audience. The cast changed several times with leading ladies walking in and strutting out, including; Tina Munim, Anita Raj, Rati Aghnihotri, Dimple Kapadia, Sarika and Sridevi. 

In fact, several scenes with Sridevi were shot but as the film progressed Sridevi realised the role wasn't much and required "exposure" (i.e. gratuitous scantily clad scenes) that she didn't care for. Sri pulled a power move that only she, as the top actress of her time could; she fought with the director and walked out of the movie.

Kimi Katkar replaced Sri but nothing could save this film from tanking. 

When you see the film you realise, yeah, Sridevi made a wise decision leaving this film and working on a rom-com called... Chandni!
