Celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani has been capturing Sridevi for magazine editorials, advertisements and fashion shoots since 2012, the year Sridevi returned to film after her own self-imposed hiatus (of about 14 years) from sets.
This shoot was done around the eve of English Vinglish's release. Sridevi, absolutely stunning in a traditional Sabyasachi Mukherjee saree (the designer who also did ALL her outfits in the movie) looks so gorgeous, it has been an icon for this blog - the definitive Sridevi fan page - for the past eight years.
Legend has it, Sridevi was not always a fan of doing photo-shoots when she first came to Mumbai, finding still photography a chore that she had to endure for the publicity stills of her movies and the magazine cover shoots. Part of a job of her version of a 9 to 5. After the break, when Sri was finally at ease in her superstar skin, she started enjoying shoots, befriending the team (her stylists, designers and camera crew) and it reflected in her picture-perfect face.
Sridevi was friendly with Dabboo and his family, together they did several shoots until... well, the very end.
