24 years of Mr Bechara: Sridevi and Anil Kapoor's dramedy

Released on 30 August 1996, Mr. Bechara was a sweet little low-budget film that... though it recovered from its costs and production... wasn't considered a hit back in the day. 

A remake of Tamil hit, expectations were high... but what worked down under, didn't work up north! 

On the other hand, it wasn't an outright flop as, for a budget of Rs 3.75 crore, the movie made over Rs 5.84 crore. A respectable overflow, if not a blockbuster. But sadly, it was the year of Raja Hindustani which made a whopping 76.34 crore and took all the awards with it too.

The movie got walloped back in the day - with running jokes like what do you call the producer of the film? Mr. Bechara etc.etc. I don't know. I liked the movie - didn't love it - but there were certainly
