Sridevi fan art: The iconography of Sridevi

Sridevi fan art: The iconography of Sridevi adds to her legend. As she continues to inspire artists of all shapes and sizes on a weekly, if not daily basis, Sridevi attains immortality online as her prescience pops up on a daily basis. Till date, we have only seen the rise and rise of artists posting sketches, paintings, pictures of sculptures, graffiti, tattoos, pencil and stencil sketches of Sridevi on social media; particularly on Instagram.

We've archived and listed the best of them here (if any credit is missing - pls let us know, we are more than happy to give credit where credit is due.

Western icons from the '50s, '60s and '70s, stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly, all remain relevant even in the new millennium as designers and artists, born long after they passed, recreate their image and likeness as it inspires their work, be it in art or fashion. Their presence exists from one millennia to another not just by the remnants of their film work, photographs, archival interviews, but by the grace of the multitude of artists they continue to inspire, their legacy spanning generations.

Similarly, Sridevi's visage, her extraordinary classic Indian looks from film after film, gives her immortality - that her sentient, corporeal existence could never do. Her portraits begin the deification process long before and soon after she left her earthly abode; as devotees from around the world anoint her through their efforts and art.

Fans from Russia, Japan, Indonesia, China, Germany, the US, South Korea... Sridevi influences so many diverse lives...

As Janhvi Kapoor mentioned in a recent interview, there's such ownership of the late actress that they cannot come to terms with her loss. They are keeping her alive in memory through these daily acts of keeping pieces of her alive through any and every art form.

Sridevi August 13, 1963 - Forever.
