Long before the 100 Crore club, the success of a Hindi film was marked by its longevity at the box-office and its total collection at the tills for the film's producers and distributors.
The much hyped Mr.India was released in the summer of 1987 (25 May 1987 to be exact) and after a successful 25 week run throughout (most of) the nation and much critical acclaim, a lavish party was hosted for its silver jubilee function where those involved with the film received a trophy as a reminder of their contribution to the film's success.
Showman, Raj Kapoor presented the trophy to Sridevi, Shammi Kapoor presented to Anil Kapoor and Saroj Khan.
It was also the night when Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja was launched in Bombay (renamed Mumbai in 1995!), 33 years ago today.
