In sharp contrast, a notoriously inaccurate fan account on Instagram, did a dreadful tribute to the same stars; by badly editing original photos of the two, and by posting incorrect dates. Army was shot in 1996, not 1994! On the plus side, at least they got half the dates right; the image of Sridevi on the sets of the film Zero with Shahrukh was indeed shot in October 2017 (the film released in 2018, after Sri's tragic and untimely passing).
Sridevi and Shahrukh Khan's pics from the set of Army are in the archive here - without the circus-clown retouching!
My sincere advice to fans; fact check before posting, and try not to make a picture worse with your own edits!
We are trying to preserve the memory of Sridevi as she was - not as we would like her to be! Altering her image, dates, quotes, this false reality of how she was isn't a tribute as much as it is disparaging. We hunt for media scans, accurate translations of her South Indian interviews and features and rely heavily on editors who are on social media who actually knew and met her. Meera Joshi, Meena Iyer, Jitesh Pillai, Dinesh Raheja... not random bloggers who can't even get her place of birth right!
We try to fact check repeatedly with more knowledgeable fans - esp those who know her Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada films - and we greatly appreciate fact checks and edit accordingly. We've had fans from Kerala, Russia, UK, Japan and Germany send us images and info - from their treasure trove of images, magazines and videos.
We've approached Sridevi's family to be the official fan site for the late, great actress. Will keep you updated if and when we hear something. 🙏
