The year of the plastic-fantastic accessories, problem patterns, oversized dresses, bad wigs and clip-on jewellery. Dolling up in the mid to late 80s at a time where the current crop of stylists were yet to be born, actresses had to resort to whatever was available to them.
Sridevi in 1987 worked all the trends. Managed to look pretty good - all things considering! She was already queen of the marquee by then, setting trends so she was rarely questioned about it. The polished look got infinitely better in the succeeding years as she was welcomed into the polished perfection of the Yash Raj camp.
