From a shy, reluctant star down south, making hesitant steps into Bollywood in 1979, with the flop Solva Saawan, to the absolute pinnacle of success in 1989 with Chandni, Sridevi's meteoric rise could not have been predicted or repeated. She was the hardest working actress of her time - well, of all time - look at her repertoire, the volume of work! But damn, she sure hit all the right notes with her mixed bag of tricks; critical acclaim, sensuality, dancing ability, melodrama, her moving parts in Tamil cinema, her over-the-top glamour in Hindi films.. .she did it all. And she did it to the best of her ability. With over 250 films (not 300 that is inaccurate misinformation spread during the publicity blitz in 2017 leading up the summer of release for her film Mom) in the archive, and the way films are made now, her name in the pantheon of all-time greats in Indian cinema is set in stone.
