(L) Sridevi in the in the Kannada film Hennu Samsarada Kannu (1975) and (R) Sridevi in the Tamil film Taxi Driver (1978).
A product of the time they were made, a phrase I think of often now as I note the volume of work Sridevi did as a child. Something that would be illegal now (well, on sets implementing legal dictates).
These similar bridal get-ups in films when Sridevi was 12 (L) and 15 (R). A time when the director yelled at her to look more romantically at the hero - when she had no idea what romance was and had to refer to other famed romantic films to 'get the look'!
Sridevi has been a bride in so many films and worn so many similar outfits again and again. And again. No wonder she took such a long break - the exhaustion from her tireless work ethic... When Mukesh Bhatt called her "an acting machine" it could be both glib and factual, a compliment and a damning call to an industry that worked her to the bone.
