Released on 11 August 1989, Sridevi's highly anticipated and only sequel Nigahein (ie Nagina part II) was released. Though it wasn't a runaway success like its predecessor, it recouped costs quickly on opening week alone (making her the producer/director Harmesh Malhotra's favourite actress, who he repeated a record five times)
Nigahein covered almost all the exact same beats as the original and the audience lost interest, the repeat value was limited which nixed the chances of what would have been part III of the movie, Nagme. We've seen the movie multiple times... well, the songs multiple times as Sridevi looks sooo gorgeous in the film.
