TBT to 1988 when Sridevi was absolutely leading Indian cinema and the trend for luring in movie stars in politics was all the rage - especially with the storied history of stars, politics and power in Tamil Nadu.
The Week, mostly a political magazine, featured Sridevi and was speculating if she'd join congress. She didn't but her father ran for elections (egged on acolytes despite Sridevi requesting him not to).
Her father didn't get the ticket and Sridevi was greatly relieved - having expressed many, many, many times in interviews that she had zero interest in politics.
