Sridevi's last film with Rishi Kapoor and the last film before her 15 year break, the murder mystery Kaun Sachcha Kaun Jhootha (1997) barely recovered costs despite decent performances and music in the film.
Sridevi was 34 when she did the film - and the Mumbai media was taking major pot shots that she should retire as she was an aging and fading star - the misogyny and sexism was overwhelming.
Box-office, loyal producers, choreographer, co-stars, directors, hell even PRs might leave you, but God-given, preternatural talent never left her side. My favourite quote about English Vinglish was that it wasn't a comeback, it was a reminder. Of the great Sridevi.
