Sridevi's 60th Birth Anniversary:

Tragically, Sridevi passed away at the age of 54, a few months shy of her 55th birthday. 

In the Hindu calendar, one's 60th is considered a landmark year. She would have turned 60 on August 13, 2023. Her birth anniversary year... } as it will now forever be phrased since her untimely passing.

Deified in her youth as an icon, her second innings were about to take flight to heights unknown. Two successful, critically acclaimed films--English Vinglish and Mom--she may have stepped into the nervous 90s gingerly, but in her second innings and third act, Sridevi reigned supreme. No longer a slave to box-office, media machinations, confident Sridevi knew when to say yes and when to firmly say no. The offers were still coming in from the top brass. Let's not forget it was she who turned down offers, be it Yash Chopra, Subash Ghai, and rather infamously, SS Rajamouli. For each, she had her own reasons. 

As her children grew into young adults, she would have ventured forward, out performed, out done and wowed her staunchest critics and her rabid fans. The skill set, honed for 50 years, was at the peak, Sridevi was at her sharpest... and then a blunt force fall, ended it all. 

Fate and fame is a cruel mistress, it even hit this master of her craft.
