Born Lalita Rani in a middle class household to Krishna and Neelavani in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh on April 3, 1962, Jaya Prada turns 62 today. Co-star of Sridevi in several Telugu and Hindi films, the stories of the two are now legendary. Some real, some gossip, a few rumours and fewer facts. Always interesting copy, be it in print or film.
Hard to believe I'm sure, but once was a bigger fan of Jaya Prada than Sridevi - especially around the time of Sharaabi, when I found Jaya Prada to be the most stunning beauty. Sridevi fandom came much later -and how!
They were above all else, professional, and worked together in several films, be it Aulad (right), Maqsad, Tohfa, Mawaali, Naya Kadam, not to forget the Telugu films they worked in like Devatha among others, Sridevi even acted in a film produced by Jaya Prada's family--Majaal--, extending an olive branch to settle the dust.
Anyhoo, here's wishing the Telugu star a very happy birthday.
