Jaya Prada was a great beauty - I mean truly great. Satyajit Ray famously stated she was perfection. She was a great dancer, a decent actress, she dressed well in Indian clothes (her western wear was... shockingly bad)... and the petite actress was sensational in a handful of films... Sargam, Sanjog, Saagar Sangamam... But majority of her films was 'hero' led, she was the pretty accessory who did little apart from have a routine song and dance feature, and a few crying scenes, all of which she did beautifully.
Few title roles, fewer double roles and of course box-office didn't favour her films often. Jaya Prada's last hit was in the late 80s! This is essentially where Sridevi triumphed.
And as Sridevi herself said, luck favoured her, unlike others...
