Sridevi is back, thrice over! The superstar's return in trilingual English Vinglish

Sridevi’s confirmed comeback Shekhar Kapur can keep on tweeting his spiritual nothings but Sridevi is NOT waiting for the director to ready his Mr India sequel.

The former queen of Bollywood is set to make her big comeback in a comedy called English Vinglish being directed by Balki’s wife Gauri Shinde.

“It’s a fabulous script... I really envy her... wish I had written it,” Balki told t2. “We are making it into a trilingual film, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.”

The last time Sridevi was seen on the big screen was for Judaai, 14 years ago in 1997. In between, she did a TV serial called Malini Iyer in 2004 and while there have been murmurs about a movie comeback, it never quite happened.

So, does Sridevi, who turns 48 in August, still have it in her to take Bollywood by storm? Balki believes so.

“The day she got into the costume for a look test and tried a few lines, we were all stunned,” says the director of Cheeni Kum and Paa. “Artistes of her calibre can get back into the action just like that!”

Shooting of the film began last weekend at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. Not only was Balki there on the sets to ensure everything was smooth sailing for wife Gauri’s maiden project, Yash Chopra himself came down to the studio to wish his Chandni heroine.

According to sources, Balki may also cast Sridevi opposite Amitabh Bachchan in his next film. The Lintas man only smiled when we asked him for confirmation.

Kya idea, sirjee
