As Mr India was called Miss India, Laadla was called Laadli by the press in the earyl 90s. Sridevi stole every scene, moment and shot in the 1994 hit and it was the surprise hit of the year as expectations were tempered by a series of flops by the combo of Anil Kapoor and Sridevi.
After the perfection of Lamhe, to be honest, we found the entire film a pitch too loud and the blatant sexism that ignited applause by a certain demographic in India, a worrying reflection of the time. The kowtow ending is also cringe in a post 'woke' world.
On the other hand, its a pleasure to watch Sridevi slip in and out of the role with such ease and elegance.
