Sridevi's youngest Khushi Kapoor in Mom 2?

Rumour has it that young Khushi Kapoor is gearing up to lead Mom 2, the sequel to her late mother Sridevi’s powerful final film.

Since her debut in The Archies (2023), a universally panned film with several debutantes, none of whom got a decent review, Khushi is currently filming the project at the brand-new Noida International Film City.

The original Mom (2017), directed by Ravi Udyavar, was a gripping revenge thriller with Sridevi delivering an unforgettable performance as Devki, a fierce mother fighting for justice after her stepdaughter's brutal assault. That role earned Sridevi a posthumous National Film Award for Best Actress—truly a fitting cap to her legendary career.

Mom 2 however is now helmed by Girish Kohli, as the sequel brings together Jisshu Sengupta and Karishma Tanna in key roles, with production handled by Boney Kapoor alongside Akshai Puri.

We fans are approaching this with a fair bit of caution. To put it bluntly, Sridevi's youngest daughter hasn't quite lived up to the massive pre-release buzz yet. In her three released films so far—The Archies, Loveyapa, and Nadaaniyan—Khushi Kapoor has impressed with her impeccable style and screen confidence, but that's about where the praise stops for many of us. It genuinely hurts to say this about the icon's baby girl, but honesty is important here.
That said, things can absolutely change. Look at Alia Bhatt—her weakest performance to date is still her debut in Student of the Year, and from there she evolved into one of the strongest talents in the industry. So why couldn't Khushi follow a similar path? The potential is there, after all, the genes are!
The key might be distancing herself from some of the unnecessary noise and distractions around her. Orry, in particular, seems like a risky association—the social media "personality" (and we're being generous with that label) thrives on unearned spotlight, zero real talent, and endless manufactured drama. Shedding that kind of circle could make a real difference for her growth as an actor. If your group of five is filled with four idiots, you become the fifth! She needs to shed the chaff and find proximity with real talent, not entitled, manufactured celebutards and rich kids of society.
Fingers crossed she finds her footing soon—especially with Mom 2 on the horizon, carrying forward her mother's indefatigable legacy.
