Sridevi on the red carpet for IIFA 2013, in Mcau

In a shimmering, sparkling, crystal-studded off-shoulder skin-coloured Kaufman Franco column gown, Sridevi stepped out at the  "green" carpet at The Venetian Macau and climbed up to the pinnacle of the Best Dressed list, before she reached the venue of the glitzy, star-studded International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2013.

The stunning Indian actress was the cynosure of all eyes as she attended the show with her entire family, daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, and husband Boney Kapoor. Waving and posing for teeming fans that lined the barricades of the carpet, to the audience chant of her own name, Sridevi shyly smiled and posed for the innumerable cameras that were all pointed directly at her.

With her side-swept hair, diamond studded earrings, dramatic lip and eye-makeup, Sridevi looked resplendent as she complimented her entire look with perfect red lips and manicure and a gold tube-clutch. Flawless fashion once again. (Sri changed into Manish Malhotra outfits for her dances on stage later in the evening).

With many fans not only in the audience, but among the film fraternity, actor (and host for the night) Shahid Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma were overheard saying they were really looking forward to the performance of Prabhudeva and Sridevi, one of their favourite actresses, the true-blue Bollywood superstar and living legend.

When Anushka Sharma was awarded the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award (for Jab Tak Hai Jaan), she took a moment to embrace Sridevi (who presented her the award) and mentioned on stage, "I want to thank IIFA for giving me the opportunity to watch Sridevi perform live, it is a dream come true." And as she hugged Sridevi was seen mouthing, "You are just amazing!"

In that same vein, young Shahid Kapoor said (post performance) "The opportunity to dance with my idol was so special for me," who also admitted a minor goof on stage. When Sridevi stepped out in her Shashi avatar (brown overcoat and print sari-clad), Shahid was supposed to do a mini-intro and step with her, but missed his cue. Later on, when Sridevi was presenting an award, he took a moment to apologise to the actress on stage, " 'Mam, I missed my cue, I was supposed to be on stage and instead at that time, I forgot and went back, I'm so sorry, it's entirely my fault!". Sridevi, was taken aback but with utmost decorum and dignity, laughed, smiled at him and said, "It's OK!" Ever the pro, she did her act without missing a beat and the show went on.

And what a show it was! Bedazzling with the best performers and performances in the Indian film industry, Prabhudeva, Sushant Singh Rajput, Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Abhishek Bachchan and Sridevi rocked the venue, showcasing the magic of Bollywood at its best.

Accompanied by dozens of dancers, Sridevi hit the stage with a sparkling medley of her hit songs including 'Navraji mahi' (from English Vinglish), 'Hawa Hawai' (Mr. India, which had the best response), 'Na Jaane Kahaan se Aayi Hai' (Chaalbaaz) and 'Chandni oh meri Chandni' - where at a surprising moment, Shahid Kapoor stepped up to dance around her.

Prabhu Deva and Sridevi at IIFA 2013 together

Prabhudeva accompanied Sridevi in a never-before seen dance-off - it was sensational to watch Sridevi do the steps he did for his iconic dance number/song, "Muqabala'. The two had sparkling chemistry as he's choreographed for Sridevi several times but performed with her for an audience for the first-time ever.

With her trademark expressions and grace, Sridevi did a wonderful performance and had multiple outfit changes - all designed by Manish Malhotra.

The show itself will air on StarTV in the coming few weeks. Set your recorders!

  2. IIFA miss out honoring the best actress with an award for best. I watched Kahaani and the acting was good not exceptional. The acting was conducive to the movies flow. But SRI's acting was wonderful heart wrenching and heart warming flawless. I came to the conclusion that Bollywood jurors are lacking in ability to judge the acting. No connoisseurs of acting in Bollywood. Or may be discontent with Mr. Boney Kapoor family. This is very bad for the film industry. Bollywood should know Sridevi has big fan base especially in INTERNET. Do not forget that. Google and Facebook has said Sridevi get more internet hit any actors. So please keep it mind not to offend the most admired and loved LADY of the silver screen.
    Thank you
