Sridevi and Jeetendra as a bride and groom in Sone Pe Suhaga: Their last film together
The last film with co-star Jeetendra, Sridevi ended a long and fruitful collab with one of her most frequent co-stars and friends with this hit Hindi film.
By 1988, it didn't matter who was Sridevi's co-star was and as her sun rose and Jeetendra's light dimmed (a slew of ill-timed flop films), she went on to work with other actors and aligned herself with directors who focused on her role more than her male counterpart.
Decades later, most of the films haven't aged well.. but the song and dance routines remain fun and frothy.

Stardust Publisher Nari Hira with Sridevi
Just heard that famed Indian publisher Nari Hira, 86, passed away yesterday. Our condolences.
The man revolutionised the film magazine publishing world with his once omnipotent and omniscient tabloids, Stardust, Showtime, Society, Savvy among other magazines.
Stardust was launched in 1971 and by the 1980s, was the most scandalous and powerful publications in India. Sridevi appeared on the cover of nearly all his magazines (albeit reluctantly sometimes as Sridevi was shocked by some of the headlines Stardust made with her image on the cover!).
As all film print magazines are barely keeping afloat - Stardust now is a pale shadow of what it used to be - this seems like the final nail in the coffin as without a visionary leader, the last of the film tabloids is most certainly circling the drain.
But stars can't celebrate - now the scandals have jumped from print to online and they are relentless, 24hrs, more callous and vicious than ever-before!
