Just heard that famed Indian publisher Nari Hira, 86, passed away yesterday. Our condolences.
The man revolutionised the film magazine publishing world with his once omnipotent and omniscient tabloids, Stardust, Showtime, Society, Savvy among other magazines.
Stardust was launched in 1971 and by the 1980s, was the most scandaloous and powerful publications in India. Sridevi appeared on the cover of nearly all his magazines (albeit reluctantly sometimes as Sridevi was shocked by some of thet headlines Stardust made with her image on the cover!).
As all film magazines are barely keeping afloat - Stardust now is a pale shadow of what it used to be - this seems like the final nail in the coffin as without a visionary leader, the last of the film tabloids is most certainly circling the drain .
But stars can't celebrate - now the scandals have jumped from print to online and they are relentless and 24hrs.
